| Basingstoke Music and Art Festival |
Basingstoke Music Festival was created in 1963. The Dance Festival takes place during the end of July and the beginning of August at the town's Haymarket Theatre. Most of the music sections take place in February and March at schools in the town. The Festival provides a platform for performers of all ages to compete before experienced professsional performing arts adjudicators who encourage and help improve performance. Adjudicators are chosen for their expertise in each performance subject. Certificates, cups and medals are awarded for particularly creditable performances. Borough of Basingstoke Awards are also given to the solo performer in each section with the highest mark.
