Since its formation in 1997 Brighton & Hove Music and Performing Arts has received 3 National Diplomas of Merit and a Major Trophy for outstanding commitment to music education from the National Music Council. The Service has developed a holistic approach to music making and providing activities, training and performance opportunities to schools and the wider community. These include instrumental tuition to all LEA schools (over 2,500 pupils weekly), a wide range of teaching resources, curriculum materials, Music and Performing Arts Centres (over 1000 activities weekly) and lifelong learning opportunities.
A range of activities are available, including Childrens Music Workshops, choirs for all ages from 8 upwards, instrumental ensembles, musicianship, advanced bands and orchestras for more advanced students, and two adult groups.
